Engineering and construction
Cost estimating in Quebec, New Brunswick, the N.W.T. and Nunavut
Unsure about your bid price, or short on time to prepare it? JPC Consultants inc. provides cost estimating for your civil engineering work in Quebec City and across Quebec.
Our approach
An estimate based on quantities and work methods
We build your cost estimate from our experience in civil engineering work. The estimate is based on quantities, the planned work methods and actual site conditions.
We can prepare the full estimate when time runs short before bid submission. We can also validate an estimate you have already prepared and explain the differences.
The assumptions and calculation bases are presented with the estimate. You know what each amount is based on and where the risks lie.
From the first meeting, you will have a clear idea of our view, including on price and timeline. It is a matter of honesty and integrity.

Understanding
What is a construction estimate based on?
A civil engineering cost estimate rests on three elements: the quantities to build, the work methods and the site conditions. An error in any one of them directly affects the price.
Quantities come from the plans and specifications. Work methods determine the equipment, labour and duration of operations. Site conditions, such as access, soils or the presence of water, influence how the work is carried out.
That is why we always present the assumptions and calculation bases with the estimate: you see where each amount comes from.
A good estimate is also useful after submission. It helps track costs during construction and explain differences when actual quantities or conditions differ from what was planned.

Who we serve
For contractors during bidding
We support contractors during bidding, including analysis of work methods and estimating. We also assist project owners who want to validate a budget.
Depending on the mandate, the estimate can cover a specific part of the project or the entire bid.
When time runs short before the submission date, we can take charge of the full estimate. If you already have a price, we can validate it and explain the differences before you submit your bid.
